5) GURU ARJAN DEV  SAHIB JI

The fifth Guru, the burnisher of the flames of the previous four Gurus of heavenly glow, was the fifth successor to the divine seat of Guru Nanak.
He was the withholder of the truth and the disseminator of the brilliance of Akaalpurakh, a teacher of high status with spiritual ostentation because of his own greatness and his rank was a way higher than the five sacred sections of the society.

(Bhai Gurdaas Ji Vaaran)

The fifth manifestation of Sri Akaal Purakh is Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Born on 15 April 1563 in Goindwal Sahib to Guru Raam Daas Ji and Mata Bhani (daughter of Guru Amar Daas Ji).

It was Guru Arjan Dev Ji who had completed the construction of Sri Harimandir Sahib at Amritsar. Guru Arjan Dev Ji had also compiled the hymns of the previous Gurus and various Bhagats into the Sri Adi Guru Granth Sahib Ji and installed it at Sri Harimandir Sahib.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji were executed by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The emperor had ordered Guru Ji to remove all references to Islam in the Sri Adi Guru Granth Sahib Ji as he considered them offensive. Guru Arjan Dev Ji refused to remove the hymns and thus attained shaheedi in 30 May 1606 in Lahore.

Before their execution, Guru Arjan Dev Ji had instructed Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji to take up arms and resist tyranny. This led to the formation of the Akaal Sena (Army of God) which was under the rule of the new successor, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was installed as the sixth master of the Sikhs.
